Trolltunga is no doubt one of the most awe-inspiring cliffs in Norway, situated about 1,100 meters above sea level and hovering some 700 metres above Lake Ringedalsvatnet.

Other hiking offers near Trolltunga

Guided daytrip to Langfoss waterfall

In Åkrafjorden you’ll find one of the most underrated attractions in Norway: The giant waterfall Langfossen. The CNN once named it one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, and you will have a hard time getting this close to a waterfall of this size anywhere else on the planet – and yet far too many drive right past it.

Hike up on your own two feet for the best experience. The 600-meter vertical climb will sting your thighs and legs, but once you’re at the top, it won’t be the steep climb that takes your breath away but rather the stunning view.

?krafjord Adventures

Awaken your senses on a tour through the beautiful landscapes of Åkrafjorden. Aakrafjord Adventures provides packaged and tailor-made tours to individuals and groups to memorable locations, sometimes in cooperation with other exciting local suppliers.

Their most popular tour is the Langfoss Waterfall Fjord Cruise – it is nothing short of a spectacle to view the 612-metre high waterfall from the water. Another fabulous experience is the Tractor Safari to Eikemo Moutain Farm, which takes you to the farms on the roadless side of the fjord by boat and tractor.

Hike the Etnefjella and stay at the Blomst?len Mountain Lodge

Etnefjella has been called one of Norway’s forgotten mountain treasures. With a gentle, varied landscape that alternates between high mountains, green valleys, small lakes and rivers, it is a paradise for those who plan to go hiking with the whole family.

The modern tourist lodge Blomstølen is a two- to three-hour hike from civilization and has a fantastic mountain atmosphere.

    Safety in the mountains

    Return to hike another day

Norway is an incredible place to explore, with untamed mythical landscapes, mountains, valleys, and fjords. Before you enter the outdoors, get familiar with the nine simple rules of the Norwegian mountain code to help you stay safe.

    1. Plan your trip and inform others about the route you have selected.
    2. Adapt the planned routes according to ability and conditions.
    3. Pay attention to the weather and the avalanche warnings.
    4. Be prepared for bad weather and frost, even on short trips.
    5. Bring the necessary equipment so you can help yourself and others.
    6. Choose safe routes. Recognize avalanche terrain and unsafe ice.
    7. Use a map and a compass. Always know where you are.
    8. Don’t be ashamed to turn around.
    9. Conserve your energy and seek shelter if necessary.

Read the mountain code with supplementary comments.
