The Romsdalseggen ridge is known as one of the most picturesque and accessible hikes in the country.

Fjords, mountains and waterfalls everywhere you look – the hike across the Romsdalseggen ridge offers views that will take the most seasoned hiker’s breath away.

From the top you can see across Åndalsnes, the Trollveggen cliff and the Trolltinder peaks, and all the way to Molde and the ocean to the west. Far down, the Rauma river winds its way through the valley, and you may get a glimpse of the train on the Rauma Railway.

The hike is around ten kilometres and takes five to seven hours. There are three route options: one easy, one of medium difficulty and one extreme that requires a mountain guide. Take a bus from Åndalsnes to the starting point in the Vengedalen valley in the morning.

The hiking season lasts from July to September.

Hiking in Trollheimen – home of the trolls

Join a three- or four-day long hiking tour on lovely single track paths through beautiful valleys, past mountain lakes and over mountain peaks.

Trollheimen (“the home of the trolls”) is a mountainous area between Trøndelag and Nordmøre that has been inhabited by humans since the Stone Age. The area still has a thriving cultural landscape with grazing, summer farming, herding, hunting, and fishing. Located in two climate zones with distinctive geological conditions, Trollheimen offers an impressive variety of landscapes, plants, and animals.

This is a moderate/challenging hiking tour with three full days of hiking (6–8 hours per day). The tour can be extended with one extra day to climb Innerdalstårnet.

Climbing the tower of Innerdalen

Conquer the classic Innerdalstårnet at 1,452 metres above sea level. Innerdalen is one of the most picturesque valleys in Norway, and the mountain known as the Innerdal tower is no doubt the jewel in the crown.

The group will meet at the parking area in Nerdalen and hike slowly to the summer farm Renndølssetra (about 1 hour). Alternate meeting places are Renndølssetra and Innerdalshytta. From there, the hike will take you to Giklingvatnet lake, before the climb to the summit starts. The hike is exposed and takes 8–10 hours, but you do not need any climbing experience.

Prices from NOK 1,500 per person including a local certified mountain guide and climbing/security equipment. The tour is offered for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 people per guide.

    1. Plan your trip and inform others about the route you have selected.
    2. Adapt the planned routes according to ability and conditions.
    3. Pay attention to the weather and the avalanche warnings.
    4. Be prepared for bad weather and frost, even on short trips.
